Firefox | The Safest and Most Customizable Personal Browser

April 23rd, 2009 | Posted in » Networks | by Hotut

Security and customization for personal use are the most important competitiveness among the Internet browsers. The winner of today has become Firefox, an open-source and absolutely free browser that supports personalized interface and so many add-ons for very needed functions under personal choices. Firefox, developed by Mozilla, is very safe, simple-looking, fast and hard to crash. Based on it, you can install/uninstall the add-ons for free according to your own needs. And, of course, you can develop your own add-ons for better performance and share with other people. That’s why there are so many better and better add-ons. Here I’m glad to recommend some very useful plug-ins that most people may need.

Recommended Firefox Add-ons

  • Adblock Plus
  • Ads were yesterday! Especially for those javascript-based CPU killers!

  • NoScript
  • Extra protection for your security, allow/forbid Javascript, Java, Flash and other plugins for any domains of your choices. With NoScript, Firefox won’t execute any Javascripts when you enter a new website. You can allow them after you feel need them.

  • FlashGot
  • Single and batch download by a popular download manager of your choices

  • GooglePreview
  • Inserts preview images (thumbnails) and popularity ranks of web sites into the Google and Yahoo search results pages.

  • Forecasefox
  • Display international forecast of the city of your choices in toolbar or status bar

  • Google Toolbar for Firefox
  • Install it for easier search by Google, and you’ll also have 1-button access to Google Image, Gmail, Google Bookmark and etc.

  • Google Bookmarks Button
  • If you don’t like Google Toolbar but want an online bookmark, this is a simple solution.

  • gTranslate
  • Translate the selected text on the web page by Google Translate

  • IE Tab
  • Browse by embedded IE engine within Firefox. It’s very useful when you visit a site not supporting Firefox.

  • Mozilla Archive Format
  • Save complete web pages into a single file (.mht format), so that you can view the content again offline even if the website is down in future.

  • Flagfox
  • Display a flag in the address bar depicting the location of the current server

Another very attractive advantage of Firefox is that the upgrade of add-ons can be automatic and is as easy as three-button-click for manual upgrade, i.e. you can upgrade all add-ons together to the latest versions, not one-by-one.

Get the latest release, Firefox 3, for free on its official website http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html now, and you’ll feel very hard to accept other browsers.
